about

When one Soundbeam is placed so that it interacts with another Soundbeam, the beams start 'bouncing', or detecting each other. The results are delightful patterns of notes, modulation and pitchbend. The mutual interplay of the beams can be fine tuned to produce a simple or complex pattern of sound. These bouncing musical patterns can be played or interrupted by body movement within the space to produce phrases or larger structures of music. This fractal situation is parallel to that found in the visual world. In the world of sound, I call this interactive space between 2 or more intersecting Soundbeams a 'fractal bridge'. In fact, computer analysis of the MIDI patterns produced with a fractal bridge reveals that the endless variety in timing and order (within the possible event parameters) is infinite. The patterns we readily hear are of human interpretation. The perception of form, structure and most particularly emotion within the music is an insight into the quality of the human mind itself. A fractal bridge is a factory of musical DNA.
